Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to R&R Collaborative Therapy Services! We know navigating therapy options can sometimes feel overwhelming, so we’ve put together some of our most common questions to help you feel confident and informed. If you don't see your question here, just reach out. We’d love to connect!

  • We proudly serve children, adolescents, and young adults with autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges, and related needs. We partner closely with families, schools, and community organizations throughout the greater Kansas City area, Wichita, and surrounding cities. Our goal is simple: to meet you where you are in the most naturalistic, supportive way possible. Whether that’s at home, in the clinic,  in the classroom, or out in the community!

  • We are growing into a multidisciplinary clinic to support your whole family! Currently, our team offers:

    • In-Home ABA Therapy across all ages

    • School Consultations & Staff Training

    • Parent, Caregiver & Family Training

    • Telehealth Services

    • CDDO Behavioral Analytic Support (for Johnson County)

We are aiming to onboard these therapies by the end of 2026:

    • Speech Therapy

    • Occupational Therapy

    • Mental Health Therapy

    • Diagnostic Evaluations

Every single service we offer is thoughtfully tailored to fit your family’s unique needs and goals.

  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals build meaningful life skills while reducing behaviors that might get in the way of learning, independence, or their overall quality of life. ABA can support communication, social connections, daily routines, emotional regulation,  play skills, etc.

At R&R, our ABA isn't rigid. We focus on compassionate, trauma informed, highly individualized, and practical interventions that make sense for your everyday life. We believe in naturalistic teaching, learning should feel engaging, purposeful, fun and match the real world environment.

  • It all starts with a conversation! We want to listen to your concerns, learn about your child's strengths, and hear your hopes for the future. From there, our team will recommend the services that best match your needs. We’ll walk alongside you through every step so you feel completely supported and confident in the plan.

  • We offer therapy wherever it makes the most sense for your child! That could be in the comfort of your home, at their school, out in the community, or via telehealth. We also have clinic-based services to offer even more support to our local families in Overland Park.

  • We serve the greater Kansas City area (including Overland Park, Shawnee Mission, Lenexa, Olathe, and KCK), as well as Wichita and the surrounding communities.

  • Absolutely! We love partnering with schools to provide assessments, develop behavior intervention plans, offer staff training, and help build inclusive classroom environments. Our goal is to create positive, sustainable change that supports both students and educators.

  • We truly believe in meeting you where you’re most comfortable. Our approach is deeply collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in real-world experience. We care about the details, we value deep relationships over surface connections, and we are committed to building systems that serve families well. Most importantly, we celebrate every single milestone—BIG or small—right alongside you!

  • You’ll be working with a dedicated team of licensed and certified professionals! This includes Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) including Lead and Senior RBTs.

We aim to onboard Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), and Occupational Therapists (OTs) soon.  Every provider on our team is passionate about delivering high-quality, individualized care.

  • Yes! If your child is enrolled at our clinic, we will happily coordinate their schedule so they can receive the multidisciplinary therapies they need, all in one place once we have a full team. If you are interested in individual services, we plan to offer that as well.

  • Typically, yes, a diagnosis is required to begin services like ABA. However, we are actively planning to provide in-house diagnostic services by the end of 2026—so stay tuned!

  • Every child is wonderfully unique, and so are their needs! The number of hours recommended will depend entirely on your child's specific goals and what will best support their growth and independence. We determine this together after an initial assessment.

  • Our sessions are designed to be natural, engaging, and play-based whenever possible! Rather than sitting at a table running repetitive drills, we incorporate learning into natural routines and activities that your child actually enjoys. We meet them where they are to teach meaningful skills in a way that feels supportive and fun. We ask, what are skills that would greatly benefit the quality of life and independence of this client and work up from there? It is common to have some clients work on basic communications skills, simple daily living skills like dressing and meal preparation, while some work on skills that help with emotional regulation or prepping for future job opportunities. Every client has their own uniqueness and we start there.

  • An assessment is simply our way of getting to know your child. We’ll observe them play, interact, and communicate, and we’ll chat with you about your family’s goals and daily routines. It’s a relaxed, comprehensive look at their strengths and areas where they might need a little extra support, allowing us to build a highly personalized care plan. We work closely with families to establish baseline goals and build rapport with your child.

  • We approach challenging behaviors with deep compassion and curiosity. We know that behavior is communication, so our first step is always to understand the "why" behind it. From there, we work collaboratively to teach safer, more effective ways for your child to communicate their needs and regulate their emotions, always prioritizing their dignity and well-being.

  • We believe parent collaboration is key! We aim to meet with you 1 to 4 times a month, depending on your family's specific needs, client therapy hours, and the level of support required. We highly encourage families to be involved in therapy sessions, whether that is observation, asking questions, and implementing strategies we use during sessions. We have found, the more involved the family is, the better progress we see for our kiddos!

  • We do offer after-school sessions, though because these times are highly requested, there is naturally a longer waitlist. We don’t typically operate on weekends, but we can occasionally offer weekend hours on a case-by-case basis depending on our providers' ability to flex their schedules. Please note that weekend hours are never a guarantee.

  • We are highly data-driven, but we never lose sight of the human element! We take careful data during sessions to track skill development and ensure our interventions are working. We regularly review this progress with you, celebrating the real-world wins and adjusting our approach whenever needed to keep moving forward.

  • We currently accept KanCare/Kansas Medicaid, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Tricare, and Aetna. We also accept private pay. If you have any questions about your coverage, our team is more than happy to help you navigate your options!

  • Yes! We believe in building lasting relationships. Whether you need ongoing therapy, periodic check-ins, or just have new questions as life naturally changes, we are always here for you.

  • It’s easy! Reach out to us by phone, text, email, or through our online contact form. We’ll schedule an initial conversation to understand your needs, answer any lingering questions, and help you take the next step. We can't wait to meet you!

  • We are so excited to share this with you — because it is unlike anything you've seen before!

Our clinic is located at The Mariam Center, 8880 Ballentine Street, Overland Park, KS 66214, and it was designed from the ground up to feel warm, home-like, and deeply intentional. Every space was built with one question in mind: what does real life actually look like, and how do we bring it here?

    Here's a peek at what's inside:

    • The Courtyard is an open-air café space that doubles as one of our most exciting learning environments. It features a small turf play area, a VW bus with tables inside, and a row of buildings — including a barbershop, a doctor's/dentist's office, and a grocery store. This is where community skills come alive in the most natural, engaging way possible.

    • The Art Room & Library give clients creative and literacy-rich spaces to explore, create, and grow.

    • The Mock Classroom is designed for our younger learners who are working toward school readiness skills in a familiar, structured environment.

    • Direct Therapy Rooms are available for clients who do their best learning in a quieter, more focused setting — because we know naturalistic environments aren't the right fit for everyone, all the time.

    • The Loft is our dedicated space for teenagers. It's designed to support social skills, job training, and independence — complete with a concession stand that our teen clients actually run themselves.

    • The Gym is fully equipped with a trampoline, rock climbing wall, foam pit, and more — because movement is learning!

    • The Full Kitchen & Dining Area is set up just like a real home kitchen. Clients and staff use it for cooking programs, activities of daily living (ADLs), and shared meals. It's one of our favorite spaces because it makes skill-building feel completely natural.

Therapy Suites for Speech, Diagnostic Testing, and Mental Health Therapy are also part of the clinic as we grow our multidisciplinary team.

And for our families — a cozy café corner is available for parents to relax and recharge during sessions.

Here's how scheduling works at the clinic:

Sessions follow a block schedule — 8:30 AM–12:30 PM or 1:00–4:30 PM — on either a Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday rotation. Some clients attend full days and multiple days per week, while others come less frequently depending on their needs. The minimum clinic attendance is 2 days per week, though 1-day schedules are available for clients who are also receiving home-based services.

One thing that makes our clinic model truly unique: every clinic client receives at least one home or community session per month with their ABA team. This ensures that the skills learned at the clinic generalize to the environments that matter most — home, school, and everyday life.

    Opening Timeline:

We are opening our doors to current clients and waitlist families in early July 2026, with a full anticipated community opening in early August 2026. Mental health and diagnostic services are expected to begin in Fall 2026, with Speech and OT providers joining by end of year. We are building something special, and we cannot wait to welcome your family into it!
