Welcome to Our New Home: A Look Inside the R&R Collaborative Therapy Services at the Mariam Center
For the last five years, R&R Collaborative Therapy Services has been privileged to meet you right where you are—in your homes, at your schools, and out in the community. We’ve loved every minute of it. But as we’ve grown alongside your families, we realized we needed a space of our own. Not just a clinic, but a place that felt like an extension of home, school, & community designed with intention, purpose, and a whole lot of heart.
We are beyond thrilled to announce that our new headquarters at The Mariam Center (8880 Ballentine Street, Overland Park, KS) is opening its doors!
We will be welcoming some of our current clients and waitlist families beginning in early July, and opening to the wider community in early August. From the very beginning, we knew we didn't want to build a traditional, clinical-feeling space. We wanted warmth. We wanted natural light. We wanted flexible spaces. We wanted space to grow and provide robust programs. Most importantly, we wanted to build a space that asked the question: What does real life actually look like, and how do we bring it here?
Here is a sneak peek at what we’ve built for your family.
Learning Through Real-World Play
We believe in naturalistic teaching, which means learning should feel engaging, purposeful, and fun. When you walk into our clinic, you won't just see therapy rooms, you'll see a community.
Our Courtyard has an open-air café space that doubles as one of our most exciting learning environments. It features a small turf play area, a real VW bus with tables inside, and a row of play buildings that include a barbershop, a doctor's/dentist's office, and a grocery store. This is where community skills come alive in the most natural way possible.
For our younger learners, we’ve designed a Mock Classroom to help them work toward school readiness skills in a familiar, structured environment. We also have a beautiful Art Room and a Library, giving clients creative and literacy-rich spaces to explore and grow.
Spaces Designed for Every Age and Need
We know that every client learns differently, and our space reflects that.
For clients who do their best learning in a quieter, more focused setting, we have Direct Therapy Rooms. We know naturalistic environments aren't the right fit for everyone all the time, and these spaces offer a calm retreat for focused skill-building.
For our teenagers and young adults, we built The Loft. We call it “The Treehouse”. This dedicated space is designed specifically to support social skills, job training, engagement opportunities and independence. It will feature a concession stand that our teen clients will learn to run themselves!
We also know that movement is a crucial part of learning and regulation, which is why our Gym is fully equipped with a trampoline, rock climbing wall, foam pit, and more.
One of our absolute favorite spaces is the Full Kitchen & Dining Area. Set up just like a real home kitchen, clients and staff will use this space for cooking programs, practicing activities of daily living (ADLs), and sharing meals together.
A Multidisciplinary Approach Under One Roof
While we are starting our clinic journey with ABA therapy, our vision has always been to support the whole family through a multidisciplinary approach.
We are actively building out therapy suites for Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Diagnostic Testing, and Mental Health Therapy. We are aiming to onboard mental health and diagnostic providers this Fall, with Speech and Occupational Therapy (OT) joining us by the end of the year.
How Clinic Sessions Work
We want our clinic to fit seamlessly into your family’s life. Sessions follow a block schedule (8:30 AM–12:30 PM or 1:00–4:30 PM) on either a Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday rotation.
Some clients will attend full days and multiple days per week, while others will come less frequently depending on their needs. The minimum clinic attendance is two days per week, though one-day schedules are available for clients who are also receiving home-based services.
But here is what makes our clinic model truly unique: every clinic client will receive at least one home or community session per month with their team. We believe deeply that the skills learned at the clinic must generalize to the environments that matter most—home, school, and everyday life.
A Space for Parents, Too
We haven't forgotten about the parents and caregivers! We know that therapy sessions can sometimes mean a lot of waiting around. That’s why we’ve created a cozy Café Corner just for you. Whether you need to catch up on emails, read a book, or just take a quiet moment to breathe and recharge during your child's session, this space is yours. It is nestled in the front corner of our building, with large windows, similar to a sun room, overseeing the outdoors. Our providers are giddy about using this space and we felt it was the perfect opportunity to have informal hang out spaces with our providers and our families. This space will be utilized in the future for group family meetings where parents can connect with other parents and gain resources from other providers. A space that feels “Ahh, I am in the right place.”
The Next Chapter
Much of what we build at R&R is inspired by family, faith, and legacy. This clinic is the culmination of years of dreaming, planning, and listening to the families we serve. Excellence lives in the details, and we have poured over every detail of this space to ensure it feels expansive, meaningful, and aligned with our clinical values.
We are building something special, and we cannot wait to welcome you home.
Stay tuned for more updates on our grand opening, and please reach out if you have any questions about enrollment!
A Name that Means everything
Our clinic is housed at The Mariam Center, and that name is not by accident. Mariam is my mother — the woman who shaped everything I am and everything we are building at R&R.
She was a nurse, a teacher, an interpreter, and a tireless volunteer for special needs communities, women and refugee families. She spent her life helping people get what they needed, empowering families, and advocating fiercely for those who needed a voice. She loved children deeply and believed in showing up for others no matter what.
She was also my number one supporter. She would carry my business card in her purse and pass it out to anyone who would listen, lighting up as she told them what her daughter did. She once helped a family receive an autism diagnosis as their interpreter — and without me even knowing, told the doctor about R&R. Families found us through her. That is just who she was.
My mom passed away in 2024 after a swift and aggressive battle with cancer. Not a day goes by that I don't feel her absence. But her voice never leaves me. She always said: "You leave your problems at the door when you go out, and you help those who need help."
This clinic is built in her honor. It is my way of carrying her forward — in every family we serve, every skill we teach, and every child whose life we get to be a part of. She would have loved every inch of it. We are so honored to do this work, and we cannot wait to welcome you into a space that was built with so much intention and heart. Come as you are. We will meet you there.
